Sarah was Christened on the 14th May 1809 at St Anne, Soho in Westminster, London England. Like her brothers and sisters she had a love of literature, publishing a book of poems called "Cowley and other Poems"

It is from this book and its notes that we filled a lot of the holes about the Reader family. From this book we know that the whole family was very talented in the literature and printing industry. She was very close to her brother and sisters. Her nephew William ( Thomas's son ) did all of the illustrations in the book.
While living at her parents at 29 Bell Yard she was noted as being a Milliner.
In 1861 Sarah lived at 31 Berkley Street in Paddington with her sister Elizabeth Jane ann whom was a dress maker at the time. They had a border named Maia Powell at the time. The book was published in 1870 and she resided at Abbey Place at that stage. Sarah was very descriptive in her notes which was refreshing to see as it helped me heaps.
Sarah died in March of 1892 in Lewisham, Kent, where some of her relatives lived.
The Old Room is deserted! No kind friends are there To rejoice in my pleasures, my sorrows to share; All family relics from thence are removed, No traces are left of the loving and loved.
This Old Room is deserted ! The walls are all bare, The pictures are gone that so lately hung there; And the old corner cupboard, bereft of its store, Shows its worn empty shelves through the wide open door. The Old Room is deserted ! The uncovered floor Recalls to my mind the gay parties of yore,
When pleasure and happiness beam’d in each glance, While the feet nimbly moved in the blithe country dance There are many past scenes, both of pleasure and pain, That are vividly brought to my memory again ; And my heart feels o’erclouded with sorrow and gloom,When I think I may never more see that Old Room.
Text from Sarah Readers book about the front living room at the house at 29 Bellyard .
