
William Howes - ( Known as Bill )

William was born on the 23rd of June 1884 and Baptised in Ellesmere on the 28 th September 1884. He was named after his grandmothers brother William Howes whom moved to Natal. He also moved to the Taranaki Region with his father
Bill as he was known learnt the trade as a Painter and Paper Hanger in the Taranaki region like his father Thomas .
He married Mary Davis ( May ) on the 11th of September 1912 and purchased a home in Kent Road which they named “ Maidstone “ after the town in England. May was related through the Lascelles family whom were related to the Royal family.
They had a lovely lawn tennis court which their niece and nephew Norine and Cedric can remember playing on . When May passed away Bill went into the share milking business with his daughter Gay.
Bill liked playing bowls but unfortunately he had a bad heart which stopped him playing. Bill passed away in 1963
Catherine Gay ( Gay )
Gay was born 30th October 1914 at Whangamomona . ( Probably at Charles Robert's Residence). Norine can also remember the shock on Mary Eliza Reader ( nee Butlers ) face when she heard that her grand daughter ( Gay ) was put up into the luggage rack by some boys as a joke when there wasn’t enough seats available on the train .

Jim was a Teacher at that time . Resident at 38 Dartmore Avenue West Town New Plymouth.
