Thomas Reader - Third Child of Charles and Mary Reader
Christened: 30th June 1818 at St Dunstan in the West.
Thomas like his father joined Longman and Greens & Co and learnt the trade in the printing trade. He joined the company on the 27th October 1834 at the age of 16 years and worked his way up the ladder to the position of manager in the printing and paper department. On June 24th 1865 he became a partner of the company and stayed there until he retired. He worked there for 55 years.
Thomas like his father and brother Charles John became a founding member of the "Booksellers Provident Fund". He was also the auditor of the fund in 1837. On the 25 June 1840 he married Georgianna Kitty Cater whos mother was Sarah Collis ( a Niece of his mothers , we think ).
They got married at the All Souls Church at St Marlyebone, London. Thomas was 32 and Georgianna 31 years.
